Hypnotherapy can be described as a combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Psychotherapy and guided relaxation. We focus on the solution rather than dwelling on the past. The Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and the guided relaxation/hypnosis part, enhances the experience by accessing the subconscious mind to help to embed the positive changes into the neural pathways.
Hypnotherapy is a highly researched therapy. Research into the neuroscience is constantly ongoing. What separates Hypnotherapy from other therapies is that we bypass the conscious mind and get the client into a relaxed state where we have access to the subconscious mind. In accessing our subconscious mind we can create massive positive changes. You learn the tools that you need to maintain your mentally healthy state making sure that it’s sustainable for a much brighter future.
Hypnotherapy incorporates positives aspects of other therapies that include; CBT, NLP and SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
What Hypnotherapy is not
There are often common misconceptions that surround Hypnotherapy. Some people believe that they aren’t “susceptible” to Hypnosis and “it can’t be done” on them. Others feel uneasy that they won’t feel in control. However, the client is always in control.
The conscious mind would never allow any suggestions for change that the client wouldn’t be happy with.
Another misconception is that Hypnosis is like magic and that the therapist can simply hypnotise away the clients problems. It should be understood that the Hypnotherapist and client work together to achieve the solutions and goals that the client sets. You must want the changes and be prepared to take the necessary steps in order to get to where you want to be. Hypnotherapy is a totally relaxing and enjoyable experience.
